Noses come in all shapes and sizes, but some literally stick out more than others. If you’ve ever watched the film, “Cyrano de Bergerac”, you couldn’t possibly have forgotten Gerard Depardieu’s prominent prosthetic nose. Not only did it help secure the popular French actor a César Award and a BAFTA nomination back in 1992, but it also gained a prestigious place on a Liberate surgeon’s “Six of the Best: Prosthetic Noses in Film” article in The Times newspaper.

Hopefully, the majority of our female readers were treated to a pretty bunch of flowers, a romantic meal out, a box of chocolates or just a simple “I Love You” card on Valentine’s Day. Even those of you who are single hopefully purchased yourself a treat or two in the absence of a partner. Some women, however, found themselves on the receiving end of an unethical present last month due to several, questionable Valentine’s Day-themed cosmetic surgery offers.

While James Bond may like his Martinis “shaken, not stirred”, it seems as though the British public now have a preference for the “tweaked not tucked” look. The new finding comes courtesy of a new report by BAAPS (The British Association of Aesthetic and Plastic Surgeons), which indicates that Brits are starting to take a more rational and cautious attitude towards cosmetic surgery.

While America might be a long plane journey away, there’s no denying that the UK is constantly subjected to US influences and vice versa. We’ve given them The Office, The X-Factor and an obsession with the Royal Family, and they’ve given us McDonalds, skinny lattés and shopping malls.

When you choose to undergo cosmetic surgery abroad, you might think that you’re saving yourself a substantial amount of money compared to UK prices. However, there’s a good reason why most people choose to have cosmetic procedures here in the UK and that’s because, provided you pick a reputable surgery which only employs fully-trained, approved and qualified UK-based surgeons, you can expect high levels of skill, service and aftercare.

TV presenter, actress, and model, Cat Deeley has told reporters she’d never say never when it comes to cosmetic surgery. The 37-year-old star says she’s yet to receive any help from plastic surgeons, and actually feels sexier at her current age than she did in her twenties; however, she still plans to leave her options open for the future.

From childhood, we develop scars, and this habit continues well into adulthood. From burns to chickenpox, and acne to botched surgery, our scars are a constant reminder of how they came about. While some scars are small and others fade with time, significant scarring on the face or areas of the body which are frequently exposed can cause us to lose our self-confidence.
